DELICIOUS TASTING FLIGHT – TASMANIAN CHEESE, TIPPLES AND WINE

This is an experience for those who not only want to see this beautiful island from the sky, but also want to indulge in some of Tasmania’s finest wine and tipples, eat handcrafted cheese and feast on an exquisite lunch made from fresh seasonal produce.

On your journey to the D’Entrecasteaux Channel we take in the breathtaking scenery as we fly over Hobart and the River Derwent before heading south. See Bruny Island from above as we explore the spectacular coastline before reaching our first destination – the rolling hills of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel.

Grandvewe & Hartshorn Distillery

First stop is Grandvewe, a boutique family-owned sheep farm and distillery in Birchs Bay. Here you will have a personalised ‘Ewenique Tasting House Experience’. Gain an insight into the farm that not only makes gourmet sheep’s cheese but turns the whey into award-winning signature spirits like the Hartshorn Sheep Whey Vodka that won the World’s Best Vodka Award 2018. You’ll understand why when you try it. Relax on the deck overlooking the D’Entrecasteaux Channel while enjoying an artisanal cheese tasting. Each premium cheese is expertly paired with a Hartshorn Distillery spirit to complement their unique flavours and aromas.

Mewstone Wines

Next, we fly to an intimate cellar door experience at Mewstone Wines. The vineyard lies on the banks of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel in the pretty farmland of aptly named Flowerpot. A former cherry farm, the vineyard consists mostly of plantings of pinot noir with a small planting of chardonnay, syrah and riesling. Enjoy eight to ten pre-selected wines during your private tasting where you will taste a selection of hughes&hughes wines before finishing with the estate grown Mewstone wines.

Frogmore Creek Cellar Door

It’s time for more wine and a mouth-watering lunch in a beautiful vineyard in the Coal River Valley. We arrive in our usual fabulous style and then head to the cellar door for a tasting before lunch. Relax in the tranquil setting enjoying a two-course feast and a glass of wine. This is the perfect place to wrap up your tasting experience. Tasmanian Air Tours will provide a complementary transfer from the vineyard to your accommodation in Hobart.
